Victoria Beach Engagement Photography in Laguna Beach – Shervin and Fariba

June 26th, 2009

Hey everyone this is Pye,

Yesterday I had the privilege of hanging out with my friends and gorgeous clients Fariba and Shervin. Our couple was loving the idea of a secluded public beach for their location, so the first location that came to mind was Victoria Beach in the city of Laguna Beach. Victoria Beach is a wonderful cliffy beach with tide pools that provides a lot more interesting shots than just a standard beach.

Shervin and Fariba, I had a blast and I must say that both of you were quite stunning. Congratulations and I am looking forward to the wedding! Enjoy the pics guys.

Even though I was carrying quite a bit, I can’t resist snapping a few on-the-way-candids when we are having so much fun. Here we are just heading down the pathway to Victoria Beach to start our engagement photography session.

We started our Victoria Beach engagement session with our usual Lin and Jirsa style portrait session. So, we found a nice shaded area and started goofing around.

sf-laguna-victoria-beach-engagement-photography-0014

Gorgeous eyes, gorgeous eyes, gorgeous eyes… What else can I say?

sf-laguna-victoria-beach-engagement-photography-0028

Here we are heading around to the back side of Victoria Beach to the tide pool area to continue our shoot. Shervin and Fariba are having a bit of fun with their special Donald Ducky.

We started the second part of our engagement photography session in the Victoria Beach tide pool just as the sun was setting. I love using the sun to create halos.

sf-laguna-victoria-beach-engagement-photography-0076

Why not take advantage of the gorgeous Victoria Beach tide pools and shoot some reflection shots while we are at it.

sf-laguna-victoria-beach-engagement-photography-0080

There were just enough clouds in the sky to create this gorgeous and dramatic scene. We had been walking around Victoria Beach so long that I thought it was only appropriate that our couple took a seat.

sf-laguna-victoria-beach-engagement-photography-0090

Jumping shots are cool, but why not do some unique ones. Had to get really low for this, but I think it turned out quite well. I loved the tree to the side, so I made sure it stayed in the photo so I could turn it to a silhouette.

sf-laguna-victoria-beach-engagement-photography-0095

We began winding up our Victoria Beach engagement photo shoot by just taking it easy and relaxing to watch the sunset.

sf-laguna-victoria-beach-engagement-photography-0096

The lighting at Victoria Beach was so interesting. The sun had already set at this time, but if you shoot towards the West, you would get these super nice warm antique tones while if you shoot towards the East we would get nice colder blue tones. Made for awesome variety.

I have a new technique I have been developing which produces an amazingly tiny depth of field on a wide angle shot. While they are extremely difficult to pull off since the shots are composed of over 40-50 individual shots each. Here is one of them below. This was taken just in front of the Victoria Beach tide pools on our way out.

Century Plaza Hotel – Jewish Wedding Photography – Century City

June 23rd, 2009

Hey everyone,

Before I wrap up this crazy blogging catch up session, I wanted to post one more of my favorite Jewish Wedding Shoots we did with John Solano. We shot this Jewish wedding at the Century Plaza Hotel and it was one of the craziest parties I think I have ever witnessed.

While I don’t necessarily want to name drop… ok, nevermind, I do… One of the Katherine McPhee and Baby Face performed along with one of the best cover bands in LA, though I forgot their names dang it! Anyway, there were celebs galore and the party didn’t quit until around 5AM.

While I want to post hundreds of the shots we got, we don’t want to give you too much eye candy, haha!

Why not start it off with a lovely reflection shot of the Century Plaza Hotel.

This was our gorgeous bride for the day. Her dress was simply amazing.

ps-century-city-century-plaza-hotel-wedding-photography-12

I must say our bride and groom both looked like they were cut out of a magazine ad. Here they are during their first dance in the Century Plaza Hotel ballroom.  This scene was so timeless, I thought it would look great with a nice vintage look.

century-plaza-hotel-first-dance

Ok, I whipped around to get another angle of the first dance, this time with a hair light. But, what I want you to look at is the dress. All I can say is WOW!

century-plaza-hotel-first-dance21

BabyFace took the stage and kept the party going, we are already at around 12:00AM here.

ps-century-city-century-plaza-hotel-wedding-photography-31

Here is a nice close up of the man doing his thing.

century-plaza-hotel-wedding-baby-face1

After BabyFace finished, one of the coolest 70s cover bands took the stage. I wish I remembered their name, they were amazing!

century-plaza-hotel-wedding-photography-5

Yeah, even Tom Arnold was there congratulating the bride and groom as well as getting his groove on.

Why dance off stage when you can dance on the stage?

ps-century-city-century-plaza-hotel-wedding-photography-61

One of the bridesmaids and her groomsman husband getting down to the YMCA… Just in case you can’t tell, that is the “Y”.

Pye Was definitely the longest single day wedding we have done, but it was also a blast. So much great music.
The Knoxville Wedding Photographer Party until 5 am, talk about a long day! It looks like everyone was having a blast.
JewishWeddings Wow. Wow. Wow. Thank for sharing this Jewish wedding eye candy! I'm dying to know who else was at the wedding too ;)

Costa Mesa St Joachim Church Wedding Photography – Venue Shoot

June 23rd, 2009

One of our clients made a special request for us to go out and shoot her wedding chapel, St Joachim Church, while they still had their Easter decorations up. Here at Lin and Jirsa Photography, we try to do anything and everything possible to please our clients/friends, so of course we went and shot it! Here are a couple pics of the St Joachim Church, I am really looking forward to the wedding!

I think it was the time of day and the stain glass windows that gave the St Joachim Church this lovely pinkish/red glow. It was quite gorgeous.

vc-costa-mesa-st-joachim-church-wedding-photography-0005

While mixed lighting is generally not that desirable, it can make some gorgeous venue shots.

Universal City Hilton – Jewish Wedding Photography

June 23rd, 2009

Hey guys,

I got another blast from the past for you all. These shots below were taken from a wedding that we were shooting with John Solano up in Universal City at the Hilton several months ago. We have tons of great shots from this shoot, but we wanted just to give you all a little taste! So enjoy.

Below is a nice shot of the Rabbis preparing the Ketubah (a traditional Jewish Marriage Contract). While traditionally, this document lays out rights of the wife, any required dowry, and obligations of the husband; today it is generally more of a symbolic gesture.

sj-los-angeles-universal-city-hilton-jewish-wedding-photography-1

Below is a shot of the Rabbis entering into prayer with the groom. Quite a handsome groom if we may add.

sj-los-angeles-universal-city-hilton-jewish-wedding-photography-2

Prior to the ceremony, the groom and his father and mother shared a wonderful embrace. For some reason, I feel like all of these shots work so well in black and white. Jewish weddings are so timeless and traditional, I love them .

Father and mother sharing a proud moment of their son, preparing for the ceremony.

Below is a shot of our bride sharing a warm embrace with her brother, who just finished a crazy accurate reperformance of a JabbaWockeez dance.

Santa Barbara Bowl Event Photography – MVKA Productions Part II

June 23rd, 2009

Hey everyone,

Here is Part II of that last entry. This was the evening concert we shot for MVKA Productions at the Santa Barbara Bowl, a dope outdoor concert venue. Kenny Logins performed that night, and in usual fashion, we can’t show those pics, but we can show the rest! So, here you are.

Let’s start with a nice wide shot of the Santa Barbara Bowl. MVKA did a great job that night creating a cosy atmosphere with the lighting and setup.

santa-barbara-bowl-event-photography

Yeah, you only get two shots with this entry, cause the rest have Kenny Logins in them! Haha, anyway, here is a lovely shot from Kenny Login’s point of view, if he were standing there that is.
