La Venta Inn Palos Verdes Wedding Photography | Anna and Noel

August 31st, 2010

I had the pleasure of meeting with Anna and Noel a few months ago for their engagement session, when we explored Laguna beach and had a great time getting to know each other. A few months passed quickly; and it was great to see them both again on their big day. The highlight of the wedding for me was their ceremony, as it was one of the most emotional, heartfelt ceremonies I’ve ever attended.

Can you say tears everywhere!?  I remember at one point, I fired off three shots in a row, catching three different people with a tear in their eye. It was amazing. Another great moment was the wedding party photo session. The bridesmaid and groomsman were down for anything, so I took advantage and made them do a whole bunch of random and funny things. Anyways, enough chatting.  Let’s get to the pictures. We hope you enjoy them; and if you want to see more, make sure you check out the slideshow in the post above.

Citrus Park & Peter’s Canyon Tustin Engagement Photography | Richard and Aileen

August 27th, 2010

Runner’s high this, runner’s high that. I have friends that are runners, and all I hear from them is how great running is and how awesome it is when you hit your runner’s high. Well, despite hating running, no, correction, hate isn’t a strong enough word. I look to running with an unbridled fury and disgust that may possibly rival Abel’s distaste for his brother Cain. Now don’t get me wrong, I love sports and working out. Put a basketball in my hand and I will run for hours and be perfectly delighted.

Despite my feelings towards running, I thought I would try it and chase this elusive “runner’s high.” I found the best local spot I could, with great scenery to give me the best chance of enjoying the sport. Long story short, after a month of running every day I never hit a runner’s high. Despite great music blaring through my iPod, brilliant scenery, nice running shoes, and great weather, I still hated running just as much as before.

That leads us to Richard and Aileen, I know, it doesn’t seem related, but it sort of is… sort of. You see, Richard and Aileen have complete trust in me as a photographer. So when I asked where they wanted to shoot, they said, “we don’t care, we trust you, you pick!” So, while running didn’t work out so well, the spot where I ran has always been in the back of my mind as a great spot for a shoot. So I said, cool, let’s go to Peter’s Canyon and shoot there!

Richard and Aileen complied, and we headed out to Peter’s Canyon after making a brief stop at Citrus Park in Tustin. We had a fabulous time chatting and goofing off… oh, and taking pictures.  Richard and Aileen are definitely two of the most natural couples I have shot. They needed to help when it came to acting natural or even with long bits of  PDA =).

I had a blast hanging out with Richard and Aileen during their best friend Colin and Josie’s Wedding. I had a blast shooting their engagement session, and I am truly stoked to see what kind of crazy partying we do at their wedding!

You guys are brilliant together, enjoy the photos! =)

–

Clouds, sun, fields, yep… I think this calls for a bit of HDR action.

Nice butts!…They must work out.

01citrus-park-tustin

The twinkling of the backlit trees at Citrus Park was gorgeous.

01citrus-park-tustin

I told you we had a blast goofing around, the next series of shots should show that nicely =).

01citrus-park-tustin

Yeah, your buff Aileen. No seriously, she actually lifted him up.

01citrus-park-tustin

Richard and Aileen’s version of Magnum, or is it Blue Steel… not sure, but it’s haaawt!

Our first shot at Peter’s Canyon. Shot equation: Back Flash + Front Flash + Sun + Hot couple making out = Crazy cool

01citrus-park-tustin

Shooting through tall grass is one of our favorite looks. Has such a soft and intimate feel to the imagery.

01citrus-park-tustin

You don’t always need multiple lights to create the look of having multiple lights, you do need some creativity… Oh, and a few $30 reflectors =)

Soka University Alisa Viejo Wedding | Bill and Annabelle

August 27th, 2010

I know, I know, we have been bad bloggers as of late! We are running several weeks behind on entries and are struggling to catch up. So, please forgive us as our studio is experiencing a bit of growing pains =).

That being said, I wanted to write about one of our beautiful couples, Bill and Annabelle, who were recently married at Soka University. I met Bill and Annabelle through our wonderful coordinator friend Adina and it has been a pleasure being able to hang out and shoot them during their engagement photo session, and especially on their wedding day.

Despite the weather being a little toasty (and by a little toasty I mean our faces were melting) the wedding day was perfect. Our poor couple were dying of heat exhaustion during our couples session being in 100 degree weather wearing a black suit and a beautiful layered wedding dress. But, they were both troopers and fought through the torture like champions.

I would like to thank Bill and Annabelle and their wonderful friends and family for being so kind and warm to our team. We truly had a great time being able to document the wedding. Congratulations Bill and Annabelle, you two are an amazing couple and we wish you both the best. Please enjoy the photos.

Before moving on to the pictures, I wanted to also thank our wonderful second shooter Laura Im for all of her hard work throughout the day. In addition, we want to thank our good friend Adina of Fleur de Lis Events for doing an amazing job as usual. We also had a chance to work again with one of our favorite DJ teams, Pete and Jen Isaacs of PJ Events. Pete and Jen are hands down one of the most energetic and fun DJ teams we have worked with. It is working with such wonderful vendors that not only makes our lives easier, but is what enables us to create such wonderful imagery. All of their contact information can be found at the bottom of this entry.

Thank you, and enjoy the photos!

Bill and Annabelle wanted a classic shot in front of Soka University with the lake in the background. We decided to take the classic and mix in a little HDR action LJP style of course.

Lovely shot by Laura, our wonderful second shooter.

Adina, you truly did a fabulous job on the planning and details!

Can’t resist cute children candids. I think every photographer has a weak spot for those.

01-soka-university-wedding-photography

I love doing something different, every time I shoot a venue. In fact, I always research what other photographers did in a location, then I try to do things completely different. I think this shot below qualifies as different =)

Ravi, Bill’s best man giving his toast and best wishes to our couple. Ravi, you are truly a class act. Not only are you hilarious and fun to be around, but you are an incredibly kind and considerate person. Thank you for all your help!

Bryan, Annabelle’s cousin, performed several songs. This one was for their first dance. In addition to being an incredible singer, Bryan is an incredibly smart and talented person with a wonderful personality to match. This touching moment allowed us to create some amazing imagery.

The classic LJP dance floor shot. I love it, I love shooting it, I love doing it. It is simply an electrifying experience being able to feel and capture the good vibes from so many people.

Laguna Beach Photography | Lawrence and Vanessa

August 27th, 2010

A little while back, Joseph and I packed up our equipment and headed down to Laguna Beach for Lawrence and Vanessa’s portrait session. We went all around the quaint little town, exploring the unique textures and interesting backgrounds; and then we finally ended up at the beach, where the sunset and full moon helped create a stunning background for our portraits. We hope you guys like the pics; and we look forward to working with you again soon!

San Diego Hyatt Wedding Photography | Melissa and Kasey

August 26th, 2010

Kasey and Melissa were married at the San Diego LDS Temple, right in time for the construction and visible scaffolding around the beautiful structure. Instead of letting that put a damper on their day, these two reminded their guests during their speech at the reception that there was an amazing moment happening inside of the temple, regardless of what was happening on the outside. Such is the personality and attitude of this positive and amazing couple and their family and friends.

We had a great time shooting their wedding, planned flawlessly by Melissa’s own mother, Diane Erickson who runs Eternity Events. There were two ceremonies, the official ceremony inside of the LDS temple and a ring ceremony at the Hyatt for a more public showing of their union. Their personal touches were on every aspect of the wedding, from the lemon theme to the cute table cards made of flowers. They held nothing back when it came to the wedding cakes. Yes, plural! There were cakes of all flavors, beautifully decorated and placed on a few tables taking up an entire corner of the reception hall. I couldn’t help but feel a little envious of the guests enjoying all of that goodness. The night was capped with a great sparkler exit of our couple while the families and friends danced and partied into the late evening.

Thanks everyone for the great time; and we hope you enjoy the images. Also, thanks to Seanny Ma of My Creative Vision for her help second shooting for this event. For more images, don’t forget to check out the slideshow in the post above.
