    LJP Loves…. TV Shows!

    Monday, March 8th, 2010

I remember the good old days of corporate life, when the end of work was truly the end of work. You got home, and you could just relax, workout, watch tv, read a book, and rewind for the next day. After we opened up our own photography studio, it seems like there’s always something to do; and when we’re not actually doing something work related, our minds are going 100 mph thinking about something to do with work. So when we actually do take our minds off of work, we try to make it count by catching up with our favorite shows.

    television 276x300Justin
    1) Attack of the Show – because I’m a Gadget geek
    2) HGTV – because I’m in the process of buying a home
    3) NBAtv – because I live in the past of my high school glory days (he didn’t really write that, this is Chris writing the article and inserting my own commentary:)

    Pye
    1) Fringe
    2) The Office – because I try to be the Michael Scott of wedding photography (again this is Chris inserting commentary)
    3) Star Trek TNG – yeah, it’s a bit embarrassing, but I need to show off my nerd (Pye actually wrote this part)

    Chris
    1) Stephen Colbert/John Stewart – I know these are two different shows but they’re basically the same thing right?
    2) Sports Center – You know you have sleeping problems when you’re on your second rerun of sportcenter in the middle of the night.
    3) Jersey Shore – Fist pumps, fights, and GTL. What more can anyone ask for?

I was creating an album for one of our beautiful brides from last year, and I came across this picture of Justin.  I thought it was worth a laugh and therefore worth sharing.   You gotta love it when you ask guests take pics, and they capture majority ceiling :)  Oh well, he still captured the moment.  The image was taken at the Hacienda at the wedding of Nelda and Napo.  Enjoy!

UC Berkeley Protest of “UCSD Racist Acts”

    Sunday, March 7th, 2010

I spent some of the best 4 years of my life at Berkeley where I fell in love with the environment, the food, and the campus vibe. And of course Berkeley wouldn’t be Berkeley without the spirit of free speech and civil rights. In the 1960s, the campus was a perfect microcosm of the free speech movement, and I was happy to see the same enthusiasm alive during my visit to campus.   I was on campus for an engagement shoot when I ran into these students protesting racist acts at UCSD.  The students were all dressed in back in a large group gathered right under Sather Gate.  Their protest was silent yet anything but unheard.

I only had a chance to snap a couple of pictures, as I needed to meet up with my engagement shoot couple, but here they are.  For more information on the protest, here is a news article on the event.

San Juan Capistrano Maternity Photography | Seth and Katie

    Thursday, February 4th, 2010

While we don’t really advertise that we shoot maternity photography, we definitely can’t pass up the opportunity when our friends and clients ask us to take them out for a maternity photo shoot. So, we took our friends Seth and Katie out for a little session at a couple of our favorite locations.

This was our first maternity shoot, and I think I am pretty happy with the results. I also have to give Seth and particular Katie props for being such troopers. I had these two hiking, climbing and sitting all over the place. We even were blessed with the opportunity of shooting next to a nude model shoot at Victoria Beach, I think Seth may have appreciated that more than Katie =).

So, after all the hiking, climbing, walking, sitting, standing, getting wet, I was more winded and tired than our beautiful pregnant friend Katie. Yeah, all you girls out there take notes, Katie’s prior exercise regiment has made her entire pregnancy a breeze.

Anyway, a big thanks to our friends Seth and Katie. We know you two will make amazing parents. Enjoy the photos!

Los Angeles Bachelorette Party Photography | Mondrian Hotel

    Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Around a week ago, we had a chance to head up the Mondrian Hotel in Hollywood, CA to shoot the bachelorette party of our friend Farnaz, who we met at Fariba’s wedding. Farnaz is actually Fariba’s cousin, and as you can see from the images, beautiful features run in the family. We had a blast the the party, where 20+ of Farnaz’s closest female friends and family gathered to celebrate.  Her friends and family arrived early to decorate the room with all sorts of fun, cute, and sentimental decorations, from childhood pictures, to risque cakes, straws and other paraphernalia.  We hope you enjoy the images, and the rest should be done very soon!

Our bachelorette’s friends had a little fun with her, as she sat on the bed surrounded by her gifts.

We also made sure we caught a series of portraits of our bride-to-be throughout the night.
