Orange County Engagement Photography | Shella and Paul

Lifestyle engagement photography is so much easier when your couple is as relaxed, natural and fun as Shella and Paul. The Orange County weather didn’t disappoint for this engagement session; and we took full advantage of the gorgeous sunset. We also found a cool tunnel with graffiti and unique lighting, a scene that fit the personalities of this modern and stylish couple. Enjoy the images!

Seven Degrees Laguna Beach Wedding | Diana and Calvin

December 25th, 2010

Long before Diana and Calvin were married during their gorgeous wedding at the Seven Degrees in Laguna Beach, they met during their junior year at Orange High. They became close when Diana was the tough, detailed, less-than-lenient teacher’s assistant for Calvin’s calculus class; and Calvin was the “too cool for school,” not-so-perfect attending student. Calvin eventually asked Diana to prom… only to be rejected, making Calvin determined to make that “no” a “yes”…and here we are 10 years later…mission accomplished!

Our LJP team had an amazing time at the wedding capturing the moments of Diana and Calvin’s celebration. From their fun and well-executed choreographed dance to all of the silly wedding party pictures we were able to get, the day was full of excitement and an up-beat optimism. There were intimate moments as well, from the emotional ceremony and the heartfelt first dance and the dances with their parents. All in all, it was a great time for the guests and for the couple. Congrats; and we can’t wait to hang out with you both again!

Here’s a quick example of our different post production styles. The first image is done with basic post production, while the second has what we call a “vintage wash.” I love how Calvin and Diana look in both of these images, one with their nice smiles and the other with a more fashion-esque look.

Laguna Beach Wedding Photography | Tommy and Michelle

Tommy and Michelle did it right! They enjoyed their wedding day! This is is something that sounds common and obvious, but I feel a lot of brides and grooms forget to do it sometimes. From morning prep, as they played with their newborn and hung out with their families and friends, you could tell that they were happy and that they were ready to have a fun, memorable day. (BTW Michelle gave birth 3 weeks before the wedding, yet it looked like she just finished day 90 of P90x .. simply amazing!).

The fun vibe continued throughout the day; and it shows in the imagery that we were able to capture. You can see the love and affection between Tommy and Michelle, that is not exactly lovey dovey or mushy, but very tangible and evident. You can see the laid-back, genuine, and fun personalities of the couple and their loved ones. And hopefully, you can get a sense of just how much fun the entire day was.

As always, it was a pleasure working with Adina and Marie of Fleur de Lis Events (Thank you for making the day run so smoothly and creating such a great atmosphere). And thank you to Matthew Wu and Kevin Peek for their help with the photography.

Orange County Lifestyle Engagement Photography | Julia and Jon

About a week ago, the Lin and Jirsa Photography team was burning the midnight oil when we decided to take a little break. We ended up grabbing our lights and cameras to do a little night time shooting outside. Somewhere along the way, we had the idea to grab a big tub of flour and start hucking it at each other while shooting.

Well, we had so much fun doing it, that we started mentioning it to our clients and showing them the pics. Jon and Julia were the first to see the pics, and the first to jump at the chance. We call it “Flour Fighting” … and yeah, it is as fun as it looks!

So, while we don’t usually do slideshows of engagement sessions, when you have a flour fight.. it’s impossible not to put it to some ridiculous music…. If you still don’t know what flour fighting is, you’ll just have to check it out for yourself….. oh and we included some pictures of the rest of the engagement session too. :) Actually, let’s start with those.

Day After Wedding Photography Orange County | Richard and Grace

Since our couples session got cut a little short during the wedding day, we decided to take Richard and Grace out after their wedding for a fun shoot around Laguna Beach. With the wedding day pressures off, it was a great time to hang out in a relaxed and beautiful environment. Day after wedding photography shoots are always so much fun! Enjoy!
