Hyatt Mission Bay Indian Wedding San Diego | Tania and Dinesh

December 7th, 2010

Tania and Dinesh held their Indian wedding at the Hyatt Mission Bay in San Diego. As the rain came down in the morning, Tania and Dinesh were calm and happy as they prepared for the big day. Just as the Baraat started, the rain stopped as if someone had turned off a faucet. Dinesh and his family danced down the street to the rhythm of the drums, Dinesh on his white horse and his family energetically and rhythmically leading the way. As Dinesh arrived at where the Bride’s family was waiting, the rain started back up again, as if it had taken a quick break to let Dinesh and his family have their moment.

We continued the wonderful ceremony indoors under the beautiful Mandap in front of all of their gracious family and friends. By the time we got to our couples session, it was pretty much night time, so we did a few of our signature night time shots and before we knew it, the reception time was upon us. The reception was a great time, with touching, eloquent toasts, great dancing by both the couple and their guests, and an amazing band called O.C.P. or Out of Control Punjabis, who created a club atmosphere inside the Hyatt Mission Bay.

Thank you Dinesh and Tania. You guys had a great wedding. Special thanks to the wonderful wedding coordinator, Nahid Farhoud of Wedding Elegance, for executing the wedding flawlessly; and thank you to my second shooter Laura Im for her great, reliable, and creative work (as always). Also, shoutout to our lighting assistant, Larissa Low for her help as well.

San Diego Wedding Photography | San Diego LDS Temple | Adam + Stephanie

November 25th, 2009

Not too long ago I had the pleasure of heading down to San Diego to shoot Adam and Stephanie’s wedding when they were sealed at the San Diego LDS Temple. I think we can all agree that the weather couldn’t have been better. Picture perfect deep blue skies surrounded the bright white steeples of the temple.

While we were waiting for Adam and Stephanie to make their grand exit from the temple, I was able to mingle and hang out with their wonderful family. It is always a blast hanging out with other photogs, and it seemed like their family had plenty of them starting with Lamoine, the Father of the Groom who had quite the DSLR setup if I do say so myself =).

Once Adam and Stephanie made their way out of the temple, we shot some nice traditional formals right on the San Diego Temple lawn in so we could use the entire temple and scenery as our backdrop. While the lighting was quite harsh that early in the day, it was nothing that a couple off camera flashes couldn’t fix. I love having couples that are as into their photos as I am, which was very apparent as Adam and Stephanie planned a nice 3 hour chunk of our day for their couples shoot.

We started their couples session at the temple, first capturing some of our more traditional shots, then moving into some more unique artistic shots using the various backgrounds around the temple.

San Diego Wedding Photography | San Diego Museum of Modern Art | Adam + Stephanie

November 25th, 2009

We probably could have spent the entire 3 hours just at the temple, but after about an hour we decided to head over to the San Diego Museum of Modern Art where they were kind enough to allow us to shoot some shots in their statue garden which made for some very unique images. I think my favorite part of the day had to be the impromptu band that stood above us next to the railing playing some dope music and cheering as Adam and Stephanie were working it in front of my lens. I have to give a shot out to Stephanie’s parents who were wonderful enough to tag along with us and help out with the shoot.

San Diego Wedding Photography | Marine Room Restaurant | Adam + Stephanie

November 25th, 2009

After the Museum of Modern Art, we headed over to our final location which was at the breathtaking Marine Room Restaurant perched right on the shore in La Jolla. Now, when I say perched right on the shore, I mean literally right on the shore. The Marine Room sits right on the sand and every seat in the house is afforded an amazing view of the ocean. It is so close to the water that once the tide rises around sunset, the waves actually crash right onto the side of the building.

Before heading out, I snagged a few detail shots of Adam and Stephanie’s amazing rings. I think this has to be one of my favorite ring shots yet.

After taking a few mood shots of the scene there at the Marine Room, we headed right outside and onto the beach to conclude our day with a nice sunset couple shoot right there by the water. Stephanie will probably want to correct that last statement as some of the shots did happen to actually be in the water rather than by it, but I think I did an OK job not letting them get too wet =).

To Adam, Stephanie and your families, it was a pleasure spending time with you all. Adam and Stephanie we all wish you both the best in your new lives together. Remember, life always calls for humor, so don’t be afraid to let Magnum out of her cage now and then, haha.

San Diego – Point Loma Naval Base – Wedding Photography – Denise & Kirk

February 9th, 2009

Hey everyone,

This is Pye with a major case of insomnia =). Since I am up, I just figured I might as well post some pictures from our shoot this past weekend down in San Diego with Denise and Kirk. While the weather wasn’t perfect, it made for some gorgeous pictures.

We started our day off at Mary Jane’s Hair Salon to get Denise’s hair done and then headed off to DK Hair for makeup for both Denise and Kerrith. In the meanwhile, the boys were prepping over at the Naval Base. Prior to the ceremony we had an amazing couples session at and around the Point Loma Lighthouse in the Cabrillo National Monument.

Denise and Kirk, you guys are a beautiful couple and a blast to hang out with. We wish you both and Austin the best. Enjoy the pictures guys, there will me much more to follow.
