El Matador Beach Engagements
El Matador State Beach in Malibu is one of the most photographed engagement locations in Southern California, and for good reason. The dramatic sea stacks, sea caves, and rocky tide pools create a backdrop that feels wild and romantic in a way that flat sandy beaches simply cannot match. At golden hour, the warm light bouncing off the sandstone cliffs and crashing waves produces some of the most stunning coastal imagery in all of Los Angeles.
The beach does require a short hike down from the parking area, but the payoff is well worth it. We time our sessions carefully around tides and sunset to make the most of the location.
